Who?

It’s Me, Ben Marsh.

I am a pastor in Winston-Salem, NC, and an advocate for the maligned, lonely, afraid, and harmed. Deeply suspect of the rising linkage of Christianity and partisanship, I aim to disentangle awful social and theological ties that have created *where we are now.* I have particular interests in the areas of Christian Nationalism, sexual abuse, and mental healthcare. You may have seen me on CNN (2024, 2021), Al-Jazeera, World Relief, or other news outlets. Previously I worked in DC as a human rights advocate for Dalits.

The main reason for this website/newsletter is to publish the longer stuff: in-depth engagement with current issues. Anything less than 5k words is a Tweet, in my opinion. So a stack is needed. This will include book reviews and theological engagement. My goal is to give you something thoughtful at least once a month, maybe more as time permits.

The second channel of content you will find on here are weekly meditations. These are not analysis or in-depth theology but shorter reflections on the Bible and life.

Finally, I love writing fiction, so some of this space will be dedicated to my fiction work, including serialized novels and excerpts from some works I will be self-publishing in due time. No offense taken if you don’t like it!

Known back on the X/twitter as PastorBenMarsh, I now exclusively use social media on Bluesky as itsmebenmarsh.substack.com.
